Sensational Shoes in Honour of Sue!!!

So I did not win the Run For the Cure Shoe Challenge but thank you to everyone who voted.  Today I did get this email from them though

Hi Robyn, Thank you so much for participating in the Who are you Running For? Shoe Challenge. Although your shoe was not the ultimate winner, it did catch the eye of New Balance! They would like your permission to send your shoe to a New Balance store for the month of October in your area, and therefore will need your contact information. We would also love to know a little bit more about you – I have your story attached, but if you can include a little bio about yourself as well, that would be fantastic.

To me, I am excited to be recognized.  I will let you know which New Balance store they will be at, maybe College Square?

If you still want to join us let me know and I can tell you where we will be meeting.

Thanx again for the votes and support.
Robyn

HOT YOGA...

So last night I did hot yoga with my sisters and some friends, at a new place in Stittsville.  Well I thought I had did hot yoga @ a Barrhaven yoga place but it was NOTHING like last night's class.

First just entering the studio was like a sauna (not a fan of saunas).  Literally caught my breath and had to focus on breathing.
We were told to bring a towel. Well I brought a hand towel not realizing there would be gallons of sweat dripping off of my body.  The hand towel did not cut it.  A large beach towel would have.  At one point my yoga mat became somewhat of a slip and slide while I was in downward dog!  We were told to try not and wipe the sweat off, "Let it evaporate and this will help cool the body."  I CAN NOT stand having sweat dripping, off my chin, into my ears, down my back...I have NEVER sweated so much in my life!  We were told to reach back and grab our ankle while lying on our stomach...it was so slippery.  I could not hold on because I was so sweaty!

The best part was having a laughing fit with my sisters in the middle of the class:)  It was bound to happen slipping  dripping and sliding on our mats.  Especially when we were suppose to be so quiet.

Would I do it again?  Not on a regular basis but once in awhile.  I would just bring a large towel, lots of h2o and I would have a pair of flip flops to wear when I left, because I stepped in a puddle of someone's sweat on the way out!!

Apple Hill Farm

Today we went to pick apples at the apple orchard on Jockvale, Apple Hill.  It was so busy.  I had never seen it so busy.  The farmer said they had had 3000 people through on Saturday!

The reason could be because this is the last year for the farm.  It has been in operation for 70 years!!!  You'll never guess what they are building?!  More houses!!!

If you have not been go by and pick your own.  They have Macs, Spartans, Empires and Courtlands (my favs). We picked a mix.  It is $6 for sm, $10 for medium and $16 for large basket.  They encourage you to try them before you pick them, which means you can eat them to find the one you like the best.   You can also get pre-picked baskets and cider.  Daphne and I made homemade applesauce.  Delicious:)  I am definitely going to go back for more.

Here is one of my favourite ways to eat apples:

Lily's Cinnamon Apples (Lily is a former student and she brought this for snack one day)

Cut one Gala apple into small bite size pieces.  They do not brown quickly so you can eat them later in the day but if you are eating it right away use any apple but green.  Then sprinkle them with cinnamon to your taste.  You can also sprinkle some sugar but I eat without the sugar.  I am sweet enough (no comments about this please;)
Enjoy!  It is like eating apple pie!

Question:
From Daphne "Why do they not grow green apples?"  Do they anywhere in Canada?

Christmas Shopping yet?

Yes I have begun thinking of shopping for Christmas.  A great store we re-visited this weekend is Play Value on Carling Ave.  Lots of outdoor toys, Ravensberg puzzles galore,  all the Lego and Playmobile you could imagine and beautiful wooden toys.

There is even pool stuff galore, trampolines and floatie things you can pull if you have a boat...oh even an island Dad:)

Summer Favs

I know Summer ends this Friday but here are a list of some of our summer favourites:

I have enjoyed reading  http://www.nieniedialogues.blogspot.com/.  Stephanie Nielson was burned over 80% of her body.  I like her decor style, her enjoyment of the simple beauties out there and she is a reminder to me that I am really really lucky.  Her blog lead me to www.thevintagepearl.com.  I would lone to put her blog as a button on my blog but I have had no luck.  If anyone knows how to do it please help me.  No, I am not becoming a Mormon.

The Ice Cream Truck - It has the best soft serve ice cream but we only saw it at the beginning of the summer and then never again.  Last summer we saw it all the time?!  I suspect someone complained about the ongoing ice cream truck music, or gas prices kept him from coming back over (he is from Quebec), or his hike in prices turned people away so it wasn't worth coming back here or there was some by-law that got rid of him.  Who knows?  If you do or you have seen it let me know.

Rina's Liquidation Station: beside the Foodland in Greely.  Kept this one a secret for quite awhile but she is pretty small so I thought the more people who go the better her biz.  She sells items from Costco that are no longer on their shelves, at an even better discount.  I don't know how she gets them but there are a few treasures you may have to search for them.

Veggie Pate - I do not eat pate of any kind  that is until I tasted veggie pate.  I do not know where to get it in Ontario but I usually pick it up when I am in Quebec.  It tastes like Stove Top stuffing. So good!

Cake in a Mug - love chocolate cake? I was sent a recipe of how to make an individual cake in a cup.  You cook it in the microwave in a matter of minutes.  You could share it.  It is so quick and so good.  If interested email moi.
OR you could try this:
Don't wanna make your own cake?!  I highly recommend Sweet & Sassy, 90 John St N, Arnprior.  You have to try the Birthday cupcake, even if it isn't your b-day:)

Pillows @ Saunders Farm - I have never been to Saunders for the Halloween season but we did go last weekend and played in the mazes and on these GIANT pillows.  they are like trampolines.  I laughed so hard while jumping...even peed a bit:()  We had sooooo much fun.

Groupon Coupons:  If you have not joined up to get daily deals from Groupon you should.  Many of the things we did this summer was because we had a Groupon deal.  I can help you sign up (then I get Groupon $$ to buy more coupons)

Well if Fall is your favourite season enjoy!
